The HSIE Faculty at Campbelltown Performing Arts High School is focused on delivering a diverse curriculum with an emphasis on using technology in the learning environment. Professional and dedicated staff are striving to improve the educational outcomes of all students under our care providing challenging and rewarding Educational Experiences.
The Stage 4 and 5 History Program gives students the opportunity to investigate the past, evaluate sources and take part in programs such as ANZAC Scholarship, Simpson Essay Prize, Defence 2020 Challenge and Performances by leading Indigenous Theatre Company and Vietnam War Collage. In Stage 6 students are offered the full range of History Courses- Ancient, Modern and Extension. Students are given the opportunity for an archeological dig, visits to relevant museums and field trips. For example Ancient History students visited the ‘Day In Pompeii’ exhibition in Melbourne in 2009 and a study tour to Greece and Italy is planned for 2013.
The Stage 4 and 5 Geography program introduces students to the practical and everyday uses of Geography. Geographical skills such as map reading, weather prediction and field work are integrated. A fieldwork program has been developed with Year 7-World Heritage Sites, The Blue Mountains. Year 9- Local Area Study, Campbelltown. Year 10-Urban Growth and Decline, Pyrmont Ultimo.
Commerce is also offered as an elective subject in Stage 5. This introduces studies for life in a practical and organised way.
Other Stage 6 Courses offered include: Geography, Legal Studies, Society and Culture, Business Studies and Services and Retail. Highly qualified staff guide students through the rigours of HSC study.
Students are also given many opportunities to enter competitions on a State and National level. Preparing students for examinations and giving them recognition for their efforts.
